Local bakery reopening as part of new commercial commissary

We are celebrating with Cristina’s Commissary, a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen and storage facility, on the opening of their newly renovated business location. This innovative hub strengthens the local food scene by providing a professional, Health Department-compliant space where businesses like Glazed and Confused Donuts can flourish and better serve the community.
LMA Architecture is proud to have provided the permit drawings for this transformative tenant fit-out, assisting these two business owners to realize their dreams!

Christian Caine Design sparkles in new Old Town location

We completed a tenant fit-out project in the historic former Wells Fargo Bank building in downtown Winchester, transforming it into the new Christian Caine design studio. This project showcases the potential of adaptive reuse in architecture!

Mayfield to Chair Jury for Shenandoah Housing Design Challenge
Leesa Mayfield of LMA Architecture has been selected to chair the jury for the Shenandoah Housing Design Challenge, a county-wide competition funded by a 2025 AARP Community Challenge Grant. Shenandoah County was one of only 383 communities nationwide to receive the grant supporting quick-action livability projects. Mayfield will lead a panel evaluating accessory dwelling unit (ADU) designs based on creativity, accessibility, buildability, and alignment with Shenandoah 2045 housing goals, with judging taking place in mid-November.
Breaking Ground at Fremont Street Nursery - October 16 2025
From The Winchester Star: Project architect Leesa Mayfield of LMA Architecture (formerly DFC-LMA Architecture) of Winchester, who provided her services to the nonprofit daycare center at a 20% discount, detailed what's in store for the nursery.

"They have an existing closed porch that isn't in great shape as a classroom, so we decided to tear it down ... and create two new classrooms," Mayfield said. "We're also making a child-size ADA-compliant bathroom, which the facility currently does not have."

"Leesa Mayfield of LMA Architecture in Winchester...has been nominated for the prestigious Virginia Business Women in Leadership Awards, which recognize top women executives for their professional accomplishments, civic engagement, mentorship and breaking glass ceilings. Winners will be honored at a ceremony at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond in October and featured in Virginia Business Magazine's October edition."
